A unique approach to launching a brand….
In this challenging economy, Happy co-founders Laura Loving and April Wilkins knew they wanted to use innovative and cost effective ways to get started. After much research, they decided to take a creative approach to marketing their new brand by using the crowd funding site, Indiegogo.com. Crowd funding has become a popular way for entrepreneurs to raise money for their projects as well as create PR buzz. Indiegogo was founded in 2008 and is a well respected site featured in many media outlets including: The New York Times, NPR and Good Morning America.
The Happy campaign started October 6, 2011 and was a huge success. April and Laura surpassed their goal with two weeks to spare. They used the project as a pre-sale of their initial product line prior to the launch of their e-commerce site, LauraLovingHappy.com. Contributors received rewards in the form of their products at every level of participation. The campaign resulted in valuable feedback from their clients, a test of the Happy ordering and fulfillment process as well as funding for the initial costs.
