Artist Laura Loving is most known for her colorful paintings of New York City. Her work hangs in homes and businesses around the world.
Laura describes her work: "I exaggerate color and shape to create art that is humorous, alive and uplifting. The evolution of my style has its roots in American Folk and Pop Art. Having lived and worked in Nice for two years, the rich artistic heritage of the French Riviera has also had a strong effect on my work."
Laura has exhibited in solo and group shows throughout the United States and abroad. In New York, she has shown at Lincoln Center's Cork Gallery, Pratt Institute, LALIQUE, J.M. Weston, New York Mercantile Exchange and Trunkt Gallery. In Europe, Laura has shown with the Wonderwall Gallery in Cirencester, England, and Chaleurs du Sud in Nice, France.
Laura received commissions to create the artwork for the Fall Cabaret Convention of Jazz at Lincoln Center and two murals for Tony Dapolito Recreation Center in Greenwich Village. Saks Fifth Avenue featured her work in their Spotlight on Art for emerging artists. Microsoft hired her to create a temporary mural on the sidewalks of Union Square to promote a Katy Perry concert sponsored by Windows Phone. Citi commissioned her to create art for Global Citizen Music Festivals in New York and Washington. In February, Laura was one of 15 designers chosen by CNN to illustrate quotes by powerful women for their International Women’s Day Project.
Laura's work is in many collections around the world, including Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, The New York Stock Exchange, International Trademark Association, The Dow Chemical Company, Amazon, the office of actress Brooke Shields and Ash Hollow Winery.
Sharing her art for the benefit of others is important to Laura. She has donated work to more than 100 nonprofit organizations, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, T.J. Martell Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, The 14th Street Y and Food Fight.
Laura's exceptional talent has not gone unrecognized. She has been featured in Country Living magazine and has been a guest presenter at the publication's Art Fair in Atlanta and Rhinebeck. She was photographed by Bill Cunningham for his On The Street collage for the New York Times Style section. Laura was also featured in the New York City Design tour sponsored by WithIt, a nonprofit organization supporting and named for Women in the Home Furnishings Industry Today.
Born in Charlotte, N.C. and raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA, Laura received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Georgia. A New Yorker of 19 years, she currently lives and works in Greenwich Village. Studio visits are available by appointment.
